The Tarrone Battery Energy Storage System (Tarrone BESS) Project is a grid-scale battery project proposed for development in Tarrone (Victoria). The Tarrone BESS Project is currently planned to be a 200 Megawatt AC (MWac) / 400 Megawatt Hour (MWh) facility, utilising the latest in Grid Forming Inverter and Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery storage technologies.
Tarrone BESS is proposed to be located on the western border of 574 Tarrone North Road (Tarrone, VIC 3283), approximately 23km north of Port Fairy (Victoria), midway between Riordan’s Road to the south and the private road to the north accessing the Tarrone Terminal Station. The Project is located within the Moyne Shire Council jurisdiction in south-west Victoria, and the works proposed in the development, construction, and operation of Tarrone BESS facility will occur across Parcels (Current: 7~A\PP2835, proposed: 2\PS918386) and 2\LP218923. The proposed facility has an estimated development area of approximately 7 Ha, inclusive of the works to provide a transmission connection to the National Energy Market (NEM) at the nearby Tarrone Terminal Station.
